Measurement

In Te Maunga these past weeks we have been learning about measurement. For measurement I learnt that 1000 ml is 1 litre, something else that I learnt is that me and my group could fit 25 bottles in the bag. Last but not least I learnt how to weigh 600ml of bottles. Have you ever done a maths activity that includes measuring?

The Amazing Game Called T - Ball

In Te Maunga we have been doing T - Ball. T - Ball was only for the year fives, I am a year five so I don't have to worry. For T - ball you had fielders and batters, the batters are the people who bat the ball and run to each base. The fielders had to try to catch the ball and chuck it to the people by the base, they had to tap it on the base and hold it. What I enjoyed during  T - Ball was hitting the ball and running to each base, the thing I didn’t like was when someone got you out. My question for you is have you ever played T - Ball?

Cross Country

On the 25th of October Paihia School did cross country at Bledisloe Domain. My course was really big. First we had to go around the field, then we had to jump over the gate, run to the next gate, run up that hill to the other gate, and run to one of the teachers. After that you go past them and run to the last gate, then turn around the last gate, run down that hill all the way to the first gate we jumped over and run to the finish line. After the race I was pumped and I didn’t even want to walk all I wanted to do was lie on the floor and have a drink of my water. I was coming third the whole way just at the end I slowed down and came fourth.

Poetry

In Te Maunga we have been doing poetry. We had to identify language features used by authors to make writing more descriptive. In the texts that we had, we had to find alliteration, similes, metaphors, adjectives and adverbs. The one I learnt about the most was metaphors because I didn’t really understand what metaphors meant until now. A metaphor is comparing two different things without using like or as.
