Wacky Wednesday

 Kia Ora bloggers, today is Wacky Wednesday at Paihia School. It happens once a year at my school, we get to dress up wacky and we get to choose anything we want to wear. This year I was a fairy and I matched with my sister and her Bff. When I was getting ready I was wondering would anyone be dressed up but when I arrived at school there was a lot of people dressed up especially the teachers and everyone looked amazingly wacky. Me and some other students we went to classrooms and bedazzled the teachers and to see how they dressed up. Today was one of my favourite days of the year, it is so cool seeing people dressed up. We took a lot of photos.

An Amazing Time at Project Island Song

Kia ora bloggers this week on Tuesday the first of June the year 6’s, Whaea Becks, Gina and I went to a program that is called Project Island Song. We had to get to school at about 8:20 am and be down at the wharf by 8:30am. When we arrived at the wharf we met up with some of the members of Project Island Song. Some of the year 6’s had a job, there was about four jobs and they were called construction, health and safety, planting and biosecurity. Construction is were you carry the parts of the rat traps because we are going to build them so we will need it, health and safety is were you had to say everyone's name out loud to make sure that they are here, bring a first aid kit in case someone gets hurt and squeeze hand sanitizer on their hands before they get on and off the boat. The planting job means you have to carry the plants onto the boat and off and bring the spades and gloves. Last but not least biosecurity is when they hold down a shoe brush so you can brush your shoes a little bit and they tap your bag to make sure that you don’t have any pests or Weed seeds in your bag. We were learning how to protect our native wildlife and learning how to keep pests away, we were also learning the Maori and english name for the trees. We were learning this so we can learn and help our wildlife, learn about trees and the cycle of the their ecosystem. Another reason why we were learning this is because so we know how important our native animals are, how helpful and what the project Island song crew members do for us and the animals. In the future I will go and visit Project Island Song again to see how big the tree has grown that my group and I planted and see how the Project Island Song Program is going. I learnt a lot of new things but I will only tell you some. Pied Shag can dive up to 20m, the way to remember which is which between a Manuka and Kanuka is that Manuka trees are darker than a Kanuka , the bark is rough also the M in Manuka stands for mean and it has flowers on it Kanuka doesn’t. Kanuka trees have a lighter color than Manuka and the K in Kanuka stands for kind, also the Kanuka is taller than the Manuka and if you feel their branches you can tell which is which. On our way back to school we saw a common and bottlenose dolphin, it was so fun

The Terrific Class Trip

 On December 2 my class and I went on an end of year trip to Kerikeri. First we went to The Parrot Place, then the park to have Dominos and then the movies to watch The Secret Garden. My favourite bit at The Parrot Place was holding the birds and feeding them. My favourite bit at the Park was eating the pizzas and having a turn on the swing. My favourite bit at the movies was when the boy could walk again.

Treasure Hunt

 In Te Maunga on 28th of August we did a Treasure hunt. We had to try and find these little gumboots. It was really hard because our gumboots were really little and it was smaller than the little kids so we had to turn our looking eyes on and take a good look. The prizes were rose gold headphones, a bag of lollies, chicken and chips pack from Four Square, a soccer ball, a handball, Eskimo pies and $5 dollars. We were raising money for Sam Godsiff - Johnson and the charity I Am Hope.

Action World Trip

Action World

Yesterday the seniors went to action world we had a ton of fun. First we had to walk to Action World. Then when we got there we had to go under this big tent, this lady Carol she explained the rules then she took the kids who haven't been and showed them around.  First Carol said the girls go on the slide first and the boys do the activities. I went on the slide about five times and it was amazing, the girls that didn't want to go on the slide they did mini golf. After all the girls were done on the water slide and got dressed the boys got to have their turn.  While the boys were on the water slide the girls were doing the activities. The activity I went on was rock climbing trapeze this other swinging one and this spinning activity. After we had a play we had to pack up and walk back to school
