Dot Plot Reflection

Kia ora bloggers last week we started maths called Statistics and the title of the problem we were doing was winning dots. We had to gather data from room 1 and 2 to make a dot plot graph and make a DLO explaining all these different questions and answering true or false questions. Almost everyone including me was confused and lost for what the word range meant. So the teachers asked us to come on the mat so they can explain it to the class. Now we know that a range of number is when you take the highest number and lowest number then you subtract the lowest number from the highest number and then you will get your answer (or what it equals). I thought it meant how far you threw it. I made the maths DLO with a member from my maths group and her name is Ana - Maria. In our DLO we got mixed up on the true or false questions because we were getting mixed up with all the words so close to each other. Something we could of made better in our DLO and what we are going to do next is explain it in a way that everyone can understand and try not to mix up with the words.

Magnificent Maths Evidence

In Te Ngahere we have been learning maths. For maths I have been learning

equal additions. We had to do a screencastify about our maths evidencing

and what we learnt. 

I learnt how to use equal additions subtraction.

I think it is the best strategy for me because it was easy for me to solve

problems, especially subtraction. It is also the best strategy for me because

I got the hang of it pretty quickly. It is very easy and helpful. I really liked

learning how to do equal additions because it was it was fun to learn another

way of subtracting.

The Most Remarkable Facts about Measurement

In Te Ngahere last week we learnt about measurement and I really

enjoyed it. There was only like one or two measurements that were 

hard. It was converting and estimating. What I liked about measurement

was learning how to use a measuring tape accurately. What I didn’t like

was when you had to pull your measuring tape slowly so it doesn't go

flying back in and then it breaks.

Measurement

In Te Maunga these past weeks we have been learning about measurement. For measurement I learnt that 1000 ml is 1 litre, something else that I learnt is that me and my group could fit 25 bottles in the bag. Last but not least I learnt how to weigh 600ml of bottles. Have you ever done a maths activity that includes measuring?

Geometry

In Te Maunga we have been learning about geometry. The thing I learnt about geometry was that cubes have six faces, twelve edges and eight vertices. Vertices are basically corners but just different names. One of the activities I did was we had to colour in 3d shapes, then we had to cut, glue and there you have a 3d shape. 

 

Maths Week

 In Te Maunga this week we have been learning about maths week. For one of the activities we had to write down the numbers that added up to twenty but the twist was that there were already numbers written down and we had to add up to twenty with those numbers.

Probability

 In Te Maunga we have been learning about probability. If you don’t know what probability is I will tell you, probability is a type of math where you do all these types of activities and a math DLO. What I learnt for probability is that when you're playing Sneaky Snakes the most common number is three well for us it was. What I liked the most was when my group was playing Spending Splurge and I got all of the items and they only got two of the items. My group was Manaaki and Luke.

Tessellations

• Tessellations
  Today we did tessellations.  Tessellations are a shape that repeats the pattern  more than five times and fills with no gaps and spaces.  The best shape is a quadrilateral. Step 1 make a Google Drawing.  Step 2 make a four sided shape. Step 3 rotate one of the quadrilateral.  Step 4 Align the quadrilateral against the other one. Step 5 hold down shift then click on the other quadrilateral to select both of them.  Step 6 press ctrl, alt, g to group them. Step 7 press ctrl d. To duplicate them. Step 8 Keep repeating till you cover most of the page.

Geometry Maths

This week my class Te Maunga we have been doing math about geometry. What worksheet I liked the most is starting from scratch. I like starting from scratch is because you can do any shape you want. I REALLY LIKE GEOMETRY MATH!!

Time DLO

This past week we have been learning about time in our maths conferencing groups. My math group is Pharell, Amelia and me. I learnt that the minute hand is the long hand because it is a longer word and the hour hand is the shorthand because it is a shorter word. Did you know that 120 seconds is 2 minutes?
